The kinetic fabric mobile designs in this catagory are constructed with colorful fabrics stretched over metal framing. The fabrics we use are Nylon and Dacron. Both are durable fabrics typically used for spinnaker sails and are transluscent, allowing natural or spot lighting to pass through and illuminate the deep, vivid colors. Their surfaces are easily cleaned with a feather duster and then a light wiping of Windex and a soft cloth.
Once the various metal shapes are formed with our customized jigs, the frames are welded for strength. The most common metal we use is round aluminum rod in assorted dimensions. Steel and brass rod are also utilized for various design purposes.
All of our mobiles in this section (fresco sunrise, fresco sunset, lumens, orbit, comma, eclipse, horizon, saturn, wingspan, romance, serenade, entourage, casasilk, director, aurora, rainbow, geoheart, aurora minor, alumena special, lumen vertical, alumena, and hex) are hand-made in our workshop in West Stockbridge, Massachussetts. Each mobile is also hand-balanced and individually packaged. Each mobile is signed and dated by the artist Joel Hotchkiss.
The designs in this catagory are specifically designed for interior use only.
